Dear friends, today I want to take you on a journey to discover the Orange Room, dedicated to the second chakra and characterized by its vibrant color.
This room is also located on the ground floor, overlooking the courtyard of Casin’Anand’s “citadel,” specifically the Piazza del Tiglio, where tables are set for breakfast during the warmer months.
As you enter, you are welcomed by the refined fragrance of Padouk wood, an African timber that is both beautiful and precious. The large desk spanning an entire wall is made from this rare wood, known for its orange veining, which perfectly complements the room. Custom-made furniture, including pieces for the dressing area, also utilizes this material.
Every accessory and detail comes from Africa and our various travels across the continent.
The walls are adorned with straw hats from the Zulu people of South Africa, including a personal one belonging to the owner, who spent several years of his childhood in Central Africa. There is also an intricately carved gourd depicting animals of the savanna, iron and straw chairs portraying the sun and moon, tribal fans and necklaces, and a mahogany throne with lion-shaped armrests. The fabric accessories further showcase the diverse fauna typical of Africa.
Multiple materials evoke the rich resources of this wonderful continent: woods of various kinds, straw (featured in the whimsical hanging lamps), faux leather that serves as the backdrop for the bed and covers the dressing area’s small sofa, and wrought iron. Particularly unique are the bedside tables shaped like Tam-Tams.
The bathroom includes a bathtub adorned with Vieri ceramics arranged in a pattern designed by the owner, reminiscent of the enclosures used to shelter goats in the savanna—an homage to the Himba people of Namibia, with whom we spent an unforgettable day.
The floor and parts of the bathroom are covered with micromaterial, a mixture of earth and resin that creates a luxurious and pleasant surface, perfect for walking barefoot.
The room is completed with an outdoor relaxation area featuring a safari chair and a table crafted from an olive tree trunk.
The orange color lends the room a lively, energizing, and inspiring vibe, offering moments of pleasant disorientation and comfort.
It’s fascinating how the room contrasts with the quintessentially Salento nature of the courtyard and estate, creating an entirely different atmosphere once you step inside.
This interplay of journeys within journeys defines the essence of the estate.
In this room, too, you’ll find a notebook to share your impressions and feelings, influenced by the energy of this space, which undoubtedly inspires special dreams. Wishing everyone the same joy!
